Loomis shares an important message: “No matter who you are, where you were born, or when you got here – Hamilton is your home."

Hamilton mayoral candidate Keanin Loomis is sharing a video and written statement with an important message of hope for a future where everyone who calls Hamilton home is welcome to contribute to the betterment of our great city.

Loomis statement reads:

For the past 6 months, I’ve been excited and energized to wake up every morning and have the opportunity to meet more people in the community and share my vision for a brighter future. 

I’ve been to every community in this city and have talked to residents from all walks of life. Students, seniors, young parents, and new immigrants. Renters, homeowners, business owners, union members and gig workers.

Living here means different things for different people, but for all of us – Hamilton is home.

As I reflect on our campaign and, in particular, our recent debates, I think it’s something that deserves repeating: no matter who you are, where you were born, or when you got here – Hamilton is your home. 

You deserve to feel welcome in this city. You deserve to have your voice heard. And you have every right to want to contribute to making our city a better, safer and more prosperous place to live and raise a family – whether that’s running for municipal government, volunteering, or simply being an active member of your community. 

To the next generation of leaders who dream of one day contributing to our city’s future, don’t let anyone tell you can’t achieve it. Keep working hard, keep setting goals, keep dreaming big.

Fact is: this city needs you. It needs more people willing to step up, put their name forward and be the bold change our city needs and deserves. 

I feel a deep appreciation for all those who welcomed me and my family to Hamilton and gave me the chance to contribute. Over the 13 years I have lived and worked in this community, I have gained a deep respect for those whose road here was far tougher than mine. 

My promise to each and every person who calls Hamilton home is this: I will continue to aim high for our city. To lead with hope and ambition. And I invite all of you to work with me to help lead this city in a way that allows us to finally live up to our potential. To be a city where everyone is valued and heard. A city led by all of us, that works for all of us. All of you are the reason I’m in this – and I’m all-in and ready to get to work, for you.

I love Hamilton. I love living here. And I’m proud to be running to be your Mayor.
